Young children can learn art

For years, early childhood teachers were told that young children cannot learn art, and outdated practices kept that idea alive. It is not true. Toddlers and young children can learn art. It comes down to how you teach them.

After years of observation, Spramani developed a method that introduces art in a way that makes sense to a developing brain. You do not need artistic skill to use it. You only need an interest in art and an appreciation for its value in the prepared environment.

What this book gives you

  • Go from confused to confident about what young children need to learn in art, and why
  • Know which art areas to focus on, and how to structure art activities
  • Know exactly which art materials to buy for your art shelf
  • Plan art activities that fit each developmental level, from 13 months to 6 years
  • Support sensory neurological development and spatial intelligence through hands on art
  • Make art feel as intentional as every other area of your room

Why I wrote this book

“Guides are trained thoroughly in every area of the classroom except this one. The art shelf is usually the one place a well trained educator is left without a map. This book is that map, written for someone who already knows how to observe a child, using my own method for the art itself.”
